Ali is the friend of Allah’ in Arabic); the names of the twelve shiʿa imams in Arabic in the six sections around. Rev. In a central rosebud cartouche, ‘ḍarb Mashhad’ (‘Struck in Mashhad’ in Arabic); the king’s full titulature around, ‘al-Sulṭān al-ʿĀdil / al-Kāmil al-Hādī al-Wālī Abu’l-Muẓaffar / Shāh Ismāʿīl Bahādur [Khān]’ (‘The Sultan, the Just, the Perfect, the Guide, the Governor, Abu’l-Muzaffar Shah Ismaʿil Bahadur [Khan]’ in Arabic), followed by ‘khallada Allāh mulkahū wa [sulṭānahū]’ (‘May Allah perpetuate his kingdom and sovereignty’ in Arabic).
